Teaching
My professor father came alive when he was in front of a classroom, and I think I inherited some of that from him. From small intimate workshops, to talks given to audiences of hundreds, to virtual courses taught online, I love helping emerging writers hone their craft and acclimate to this writing life. See below for a continually updated list of classes and events, and feel free to touch base with me to design something special for any group you might be a part of!

Inspiration for Writers
I had a very long journey to publication. And whatever "very long" conjures up in your mind, I probably exceded it. Eleven years, seven unpublished manuscripts, and three agents before my "first" novel sold thanks to the fairy godmother intervention of a truly great author.
I will forever be committed, in the words of Edith Piaf (and also Dennis Lehane), to "sending the elevator down" for other writers. I believe that the more fantastic books are out there, the more fantastic life gets for authors. Books beget readers!
If you are an emerging writer (that's Louise Penny's phrase and I love it), please reach out to me via email or on social, attend a talk or take a class I give, follow my newsletter. It will enrich my writer's life to have you be part of this community, and I hope that my work or something about my journey may enrich yours.
In the meantime know this: there are no wasted words. Every single one brings us one step closer to success as a writer, whatever "success" may mean for each individual. And if your road is long and hilly, it can still come to exactly the point you wish to reach. Keep walking. Keep writing.
